In DSC, we support the Sunflower Lanyard initiative
For many, a trip to the cinema, a café, or a shopping center is a pleasant experience often looked forward to. However, for those with an invisible disability, such as brain injury, Alzheimer's, or PTSD, it can feel like the exact opposite. In these cases, interacting with the outside world and encountering many new people can be stressful and overwhelming.
We make the invisible visible, with a recognizable sunflower lanyard
With our 17 shopping centers, we have become part of the Sunflower initiative, which works to give people with invisible disabilities a better experience in public. We distribute a lanyard with sunflowers on it to wear around the neck – signaling to others that the wearer has an invisible disability and may need extra time, patience, or help.
With training videos for the employees and shop staff of the centers, there are also information campaigns aimed at raising awareness of the challenges that come with an invisible disability. In this way, we can all help customers who may need consideration.
Who can receive the sunflower lanyard – and where?
In all 17 centers of Danish Shopping Centers, one can receive a free sunflower lanyard. On the center's website, you will find more information about where you can pick up a sunflower lanyard.
